Biographies

Quincy Jones' autobiography is why I read biographies.

It spans the arc from 1933 when he was born until somewhere around the new millennium (He died a little more than a year ago but those years aren't covered).

Reading about how he grew up, and had to hustle puts things in perspective: My daily concerns like the mediocrity of the daycare, or the dude doing a loud voice call in the coffee place seem very banal.

Read books which span the arc of a long life, and realise not much of the day to day matters!*
